Core expertise

Titleholders, from refinery to customer

We take title to the cargo and carry both the physical and the paper risk for the full journey — the buyer deals with one owner, one counterparty and one point of responsibility.

Full responsibility for the shipment

From the moment product is lifted at the refinery to the moment it is discharged for our customer, the cargo is ours. That is the difference between a titleholder and an intermediary — and it is what allows end buyers, government agencies, resellers and direct burners to treat us as a principal rather than a middleman.

We take title

Commtrade is not a broker passing paper between parties. We take legal title to the cargo at the refinery and hold it through to delivery, so our customers contract with the party that actually owns the product.

Physical risk

Loading, voyage, transhipment and discharge — the physical exposure sits with us until the cargo is delivered. Quality, quantity, demurrage and marine incident risk are ours to manage, not our buyer's to chase.

Paper risk

Price exposure between lifting and delivery is carried and hedged on our book. Our customers receive a fixed, agreed commercial outcome rather than an open position on a moving market.

Where we move cargoes

Six supply corridors

We lift and deliver across six corridors spanning the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Far East basins — mapped in detail, corridor by corridor.

Delivery terms

Three supply models, one standard of execution

FOB

Free on Board

Cargo lifted from our approved refineries and delivered over the ship's rail at load port. Suited to buyers with their own freight arrangements who want refinery-origin product with verified documentation.

CIF

Cost, Insurance & Freight

Delivered to any safe world port with freight and marine insurance coordinated by our desk. The buyer receives a landed price and a single counterparty responsible for the whole voyage.

STS

Ship-to-Ship

Offshore transfers at approved STS locations, keeping cargoes moving where port access, draft or timing make direct berthing impractical. Flexible, cost-effective and fully supervised.

What we supply

Clean and dirty petroleum products

CPP

Clean Petroleum Products

Light, low-sulphur refined products requiring clean, dedicated tankage and strict quality control throughout the chain — typically gasoline, gasoil, jet and naphtha grades.

DPP

Dirty Petroleum Products

Heavier residual and crude-family cargoes with heating, blending and handling requirements — traded into utilities, bunkering and industrial burners.

How we carry the risk

Working with top-tier service providers

Holding title across a voyage only works with the right partners behind it. We work with leading hedging providers, tanker brokers, marine insurers and well-verified tank farms worldwide.

Hedging service providers

Top-tier trading and clearing counterparties who allow us to price and hedge exposure the moment a cargo is committed.

Tanker brokers

Established broking houses giving us reliable access to suitable, vetted tonnage on the routes we trade.

Marine insurers

Recognised marine and cargo underwriters covering the voyage, so a delivered cargo is a covered cargo.

Verified tank farms

Whitelisted, independently verified storage across our corridors — nominated only after due diligence is complete.
